HTOE meeting
The autumn conference of the National Association of Local Television Stations, commonly known as the HTOE meeting, was held this year at the É26 event venue. The event focused on the current situation and future prospects of local media, with particular emphasis on the professional, technological, and social challenges that local television stations face on a daily basis. The conference provided an opportunity for industry representatives to engage in direct dialogue with each other and with decision-makers.
Several renowned experts spoke at the conference, including State Secretary Miklós Dukai, Media Council member László Budai, Ákos Pál, head of the National Film Institute, and István Galambos, deputy director of the NMHH. The participants agreed that local television stations continue to play a decisive role in the domestic media market despite the digital transformation. They emphasized that these media outlets are not only a reliable and direct source of information, but also play an important role in strengthening the identity of local communities and maintaining public dialogue.
One of the most important topics of the conference was the digitization of local television archives. Currently, more than 150,000 cassettes and other data carriers are awaiting processing, representing significant cultural and historical value. According to experts, digitization is an urgent task, but it requires significant financial, technical, and human resources.
Participants also discussed the challenges posed by the rise of social media, opportunities for innovation, the impact of technological developments, and the importance of cooperation with universities and training institutions. The organizers believe that the ideas and suggestions put forward could trigger new, long-term processes that will contribute to the renewal and strengthening of local media.
